Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 2024

Look, we get it - privacy policies can be a snooze fest. But here's the deal: we actually care about your info and how it's handled. We've tried to make this as straightforward as possible, no legal mumbo-jumbo where we can avoid it.

We're Navorith Quinthale Architecture, based out of Toronto, and we've been designing sustainable spaces for folks across Canada for years now. This policy applies to anyone who visits our website, reaches out through our contact forms, or works with us on projects.

When you interact with our site or services, you're trusting us with certain bits of information. This document explains what we collect, why we need it, and what we do (and don't do) with it.

Stuff You Give Us Directly

When you fill out our contact form or email us, we'll collect things like your name, email address, phone number, and whatever details you share about your project. Pretty standard stuff - we can't really help design your dream space without knowing who you are and what you're after.

Technical Data

Like most websites, ours collects some technical info automatically - your IP address, browser type, what pages you visit, how long you hang around. We use this to make sure the site's working properly and to understand what content people actually care about.

Cookies & Similar Tech

We use cookies - those little data files that help websites remember you. Nothing creepy, just stuff to keep you logged in if you're a returning client or to remember your preferences. You can disable them in your browser if you want, though some features might not work as smoothly.

Here's what we actually do with your info:

  • Responding to inquiries - Can't answer your questions without your contact details, right?
  • Project work - If we're working together on a design project, we'll use your information to communicate, share plans, and manage the collaboration
  • Improving our services - We look at how people use our site to figure out what's working and what needs tweaking
  • Occasional updates - If you've expressed interest, we might send you project updates or news about sustainable architecture. You can opt out anytime - we won't take it personally
  • Legal compliance - Sometimes we gotta keep records for legal or regulatory reasons, especially with building projects

We don't sell your data to third parties. Period. That's not how we roll.

We keep your info pretty close to the vest, but there are a few situations where we might need to share it:

  • Project collaborators - If we're working with engineers, contractors, or other specialists on your project, we'll share relevant details with them. They're bound by their own confidentiality agreements
  • Service providers - Companies that help us run our business (like email hosting, cloud storage) might process your data on our behalf. They're contractually obligated to keep it secure
  • Legal requirements - If the law requires it or if we need to protect our rights, we might have to disclose information. We'd only do this when absolutely necessary

Again, we're not in the business of selling or renting your personal information to marketers or data brokers. That's not our thing.

Security's a big deal to us. We use industry-standard measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction. This includes:

  • Encrypted data transmission (SSL/TLS)
  • Secure servers with regular backups
  • Limited access to personal data - only team members who need it for their work can see it
  • Regular security assessments and updates

That said, no system's 100% bulletproof. We do our best to protect your data, but we can't guarantee absolute security - nobody honestly can. If there's ever a breach that affects your information, we'll let you know promptly.

We don't hoard information forever. Here's our approach:

Project-related data: We keep this for the duration of the project plus about 7 years afterward. Why so long? Building projects have legal and warranty considerations that require us to maintain records.

Inquiry data: If you reach out but don't end up working with us, we'll keep your contact info for around 2 years in case you change your mind. After that, we'll delete it unless you've asked to stay on our mailing list.

Marketing communications: As long as you're subscribed or until you ask us to remove you.

If you want us to delete your information sooner, just ask - we'll honor that request unless there's a legitimate legal reason we need to keep it.

It's your data, and you've got rights. Here's what you can do:

  • Access: Ask us what information we have about you
  • Correction: Tell us if something's wrong and we'll fix it
  • Deletion: Request that we delete your data (with some legal exceptions)
  • Opt-out: Unsubscribe from marketing emails or newsletters anytime
  • Data portability: Get a copy of your data in a commonly used format
  • Withdraw consent: If we're processing your data based on consent, you can withdraw it

To exercise any of these rights, just shoot us an email at info@navorithquinthale.info or give us a call at (416) 555-0142. We'll respond within a reasonable timeframe, usually within 30 days.

We're based in Canada, and most of our data stays here. However, some of our service providers might be located in other countries, including the United States. When we transfer data internationally, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your information according to Canadian privacy standards.

If you're accessing our site from outside Canada, be aware that your information will be transferred to and processed in Canada, where privacy laws might differ from your country's regulations.

Our website might include links to other sites - maybe a supplier's page, a building material manufacturer, or a sustainability organization we support. Once you click on those links and leave our site, we can't control what happens to your data.

We'd recommend checking out the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit. We try to link to reputable sources, but we're not responsible for their privacy practices.

Privacy laws evolve, our business practices change, and sometimes we just realize there's a better way to do things. When we update this policy, we'll post the new version here with an updated "Last updated" date at the top.

If we make any major changes that significantly affect how we handle your data, we'll try to notify you directly - probably via email if we have your contact info. But it's also a good idea to check back here occasionally, especially if you're working with us on a project.

If something in this policy doesn't make sense, or if you've got concerns about how we're handling your information, please reach out. We're not fans of the whole "hide behind legalese" approach.

The Bottom Line

We treat your information the way we'd want ours treated - with respect and care. We're not perfect, but we're committed to being transparent and doing right by the people who trust us with their architectural projects and personal info. If you've got questions or concerns, don't hesitate to get in touch.
